4. For Author and Presenters

The presentation style will be the following three types:

Oral presentation (15 min. with 3 min. available for questions)
Oral presentation (15 min. with 3 min. available for questions) and Poster presentation
Poster presentation and Oral short presentation (3min.)

  • Oral and poster presentations will be held on January 15th and 17th. If you have preferred presentation date, could you inform us on the registration form.
  • There is a laptop available for presenters; OS: Windows10, Microsoft Power Point 2013.
  • Each presenter is provided with a poster board, which fits a poster of A0-size (84.1 cm wide x 118.9 cm high) in the poster presentation. Your poster must be designed to fit within the confines of the poster board. Using several A4 sheets on a poster board is allowed as long as they fit within the confines of the poster board.
  • Presentation time might be changed by the total number of presentations.
  • Presenters are required to submit proceedings papers. The format is at the following links.(Sorry, mostly Japanese)

5. Special Event

The invited session and the group discussion that main theme is “Internationalization” will be held in this symposium.

  • Introduction
    Recently, NAOJ with huge international projects have been thrust into the spotlight. In this situation, we’ve set special symposium day theme to “Internationalization, the future of astronomical engineering and projects in Japan”. We would like to provide an opportunity to discuss invited speakers including lightning talks with NAOJ staffs at the group discussion. Through these events, we hope to provide participants with useful information on the future plan, next era and next generation engineering.

  • Group Discussion
    The theme of the group discussion is “International projects and future direction of Japan.” In this session, we are focusing on Japan’s situation and NAOJ which is becoming covered by internationalization, then would like to debate about how we should change, what we should do, and what should be going on. It would be great if participants from overseas could state your opinions for Japan’s condition.

6. Registration Fee & Travel support

No registration fee.

* NAOJ will provide assistance for travel fee for presenters, but the total cost can not be paid fully because of the limited budget.

7. Banquet

Date: January 16, 2020

Location: Cafeteria in NAOJ Mitaka Campus

Estimated fee: 3,000 YEN/person(cash only).

8. Excursion Program

We will not prepare excursion program on this symposium.

9. How to Resister

Please fill in the items on the registration form which is at the end of this notification and e-mail your filled registration form to the Organizing Committee (gijyutsu-sympo2019@ml.nao.ac.jp) by November 15th, 2019. After registration, we will send you an e-mail for confirmation. If you don't receive the confirmation e-mail within 1 week, please contact us.

12. Note

Since the end of 2017, all the visitors need to use a temporal card key to enter all the building in NAOJ Mitaka campus. All the "registered" participants can receive the card key from receptionists at the reception of this symposium around the entrance of Subaru building before the symposium starts.
For visitors coming after symposium starts and ones without the registration, we would appreciate it if you could receive the card key from security guards at main gate of the campus, by showing your identification card.
